What are papillomas and how do they look?

Damage to the palms of the hands with papilloma

In this article, we will discuss the following:

  • what is a papilloma;
  • what is the reason for its formation.
  • where it is more common in men and women;
  • papilloma khas.

Papilloma is a benign neoplasm localized on the skin, mucous membranes. The cause of its formation is human papillomavirus (HPV), which is transmitted through various means. The appearance of the formation depends on the type of virus that causes it.

Delivery route

Human papillomavirus is transmitted by:

  • During sexual intercourse, including anal, oral-genital.
  • Household. Microorganisms can exist on personal items, personal hygiene items, infected towels. It easily penetrates scratches, abrasions on the skin.
  • During childbirth from mother to child.

The possibility of a bacterial infection if the virus is transferred from one part of the body to another, which usually occurs during shaving, hair removal.

The incubation period (the period from the introduction of HPV into the body to the appearance of pathological signs) ranges from a few weeks to several years.

Papilloma in the body most often appears in cases of illness, pregnancy, alcohol abuse, psycho-emotional stress, hypothermia, accompanied by a decrease in immune defenses. The incidence of this formation in men and women is the same.

Human papillomavirus

Human papillomavirus: type

Depending on the risk of oncological pathology of the skin, mucosal papillomavirus belongs to the following groups:

  • Low oncogenic risk (HPV 3, 6, 11, 13, 32, 34, 72, 73, 40–44, 51, 61 types).
  • Simple oncogenic risk (HPV types 52, 56, 58, 30, 35, 45).
  • High risk of malicious processes (HPV types 50, 59, 16, 18, 64, 68, 70, 31, 33, 39).

Microorganisms with low levels of cancer risk cause benign growth on the skin, mucous membranes.

Type of papilloma

Brief

Simple papilloma

They are also called vulgar, ordinary. Such growth is more frequent due to HPV types 26-29, 77, 63, 41.

Anxiety, a burning sensation appear on any part of the body. Then, the growth of spherical formation is observed, its surface gradually becomes rough. Initially, the tumor is fleshy, then darkens. The size of the papilloma in the body is from 1 mm to cm

This neoplasm is single, multiple. In the latter case, the daughter's small papilloma is located around the mother, formed first, usually the largest.

Their localization is the back of the hands, fingers, the distance between them, the chin area, the edges of the lips. There is such a papilloma in the neck. The child's knee is affected, as children often crawl, infected through small wounds on the skin.

Plantar

People with this formation are infected with HPV types 1, 2, 4. Growth is similar to dry callus, but has a number of characteristic differences.

The skin pattern is maintained on the vessels, not on the surface of the papilloma, the latter being smooth. Formations caused by papillomavirus are painful, unpleasant sensations are intensified when wearing squeezed shoes. In the papilloma, black spots can be seen, which are not present in the vascular.

Neoplasms are sometimes self-destructive, which is more common in children. Sometimes small bubbles appear around the neoplasm. The latter changes into a new papilloma over time.

Flat papilloma on the face

Papilloma rata

Growth of oval shape, elongated, rising above the skin level by 1-2 millimeters. Flat papillomas are localized around the mouth, face, and upper body. Sometimes papillomas form in the neck.

There is data on papilloma in the labia, cervix in girls, penis in men, in the rectum, near the anus. These formations are located in groups, merging with each other. Flat-colored papillomas, sometimes slightly darker than other skin, form under the influence of 10, 49, 28 types of papillomavirus.

Threaded

If people notice that a small papilloma appears in the neck, then it usually grows like a thread. The second name of the formation isacrochordus. The latter is caused by 2, 7 types of HPV.

In the early stages, the papilloma in the neck looks like a small yellowish seal, then its growth stretches, becomes rough, acquires an elongated, round, thread-like shape. A characteristic feature of the papilloma similar to the neck is the thin leg.

Often, acrochordus is formed in men, women over 40 years of age. Growth also occurs on the skin of the upper eyelids, armpits, mammary glands, in the intimate area.

Pointing

Papilloma on the penis

Formation data are calledwarts,due to types 6, 11, 44, 42, 54, 51, 55, 89 types of human papillomavirus in women and men.

Small, single, double-colored condyloma with flesh color, localized on female, male, genitals around the anus. There are papillomas in the vagina, labia minora, cervix. In men, the condyloma is located in the foreskin, the head of the penis, in the urethra.

Separate elements sometimes merge with each other, tumor-like formations appear, externally resembling rooster brushes, cauliflower. Neoplasms are characterized by very rapid growth, wide lesions can form in a few hours.

Pathology has repetitive courses. It is worse with sexually transmitted infections of the urogenital tract (e. g. , chlamydia, gonorrhea, mycoplasmosis).

Condylomas formed in the cervix, especially in the cervical canal, are most dangerous during pregnancy. Hormonal changes stimulate rapid growth, followed by tissue damage, and secondary infections.

Papilloma in the mouth, larynx

Their appearance is associated with papillomavirus activity 6, 7, 11, 72, 73, 57, 32 types. A formation is a round formation on a thin or wide base. The mucous membrane around it is pale pink, with no visible pathological changes. The growth surface is pale pink, whitish.

Neoplasms are single, multiple, painless when pressed. They are located in the lower part of the oral cavity, the back of the tongue, hard, soft palate, laryngeal mucosa, measuring between 2 mm to 2 cm.

Papilloma in the larynx

Growth of the mucous membrane of the mouth that bleeds too much if bitten, darkens due to the shedding of blood into it. The state of health with the presence of such diseases does not deteriorate, the oral cavity opens freely.

When in adults a single growth is located in the soft palate, tonsils, in the glottis, there is a feeling of the presence of foreign objects, coughing, sound becoming hoarse. If the lesion doubles, these symptoms will increase.

In children, pathological growth is often bilateral, the occurrence of which is accompanied by the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty inhaling, exhaling, arising after physical exercise, then resting completely.
  • Cough after running, playing too much.
  • Choking attacks withlaryngeal stenosis(pathological narrowing that prevents air from entering the lower respiratory tract).

The appearance of different papillomas is externally associated with infection with various types of HPV. To get rid of neoplasms, you must see a doctor. This should be done as soon as possible if the papilloma doubles, its size increases rapidly, causes discomfort, and is often injured.
